About
Built in a basement. Made for the stage.
Brooklyn Basement Dance Co. is a neighborhood studio with a serious training program. We started in a basement; we still dance like it.

We opened our doors with one mission: build a place in Brooklyn where beginners feel welcome and trained dancers feel pushed. No gatekeeping, no attitude — just real technique and real fun.
Our instructors are working professionals: choreographers, company members, and teaching artists who've been in this for years. They bring that experience to every class, from age 3 to age 53.
Twice a year we put together a full studio recital where every student takes the stage. We also run a competition team for dancers who want to take it further.
Meet the founders
Leah & David.

A former competitive cheerleader turned operator. Leah runs the business with the same discipline and team-first energy she brought to the mat — relentless drive, sharp execution, and a love for lifting people up.

Southern California native, New Yorker for 19 years. Stage, screen, MTV VMAs, national tours — David's resume is long, but his real love is teaching. Hip hop is home base; mentorship is the mission.
